Privacy

Sealed on your phone before it ever reaches us.

Every entry is encrypted on your device before any network request. The key is generated the first time you use Mann and held in your phone's secure hardware; we never receive it.

On-device encryption

A random 256-bit key, generated the first time you open Mann, stored in your phone's secure hardware. It never reaches our servers.

Two honest exceptions

Reflections and Go Deeper send your entry to the AI in flight, never stored. Chat conversations aren't encrypted yet though: Mann stores them as plain text so it can recall what you told it.

Delete, for good

Your entries, chats and subscription go with your account. Deleted immediately and permanently.

FAQ

The questions people actually ask.

Can Mann really not read my journal?

Almost. Your entries are encrypted on your device using AES-256-GCM before they leave your phone, and our servers store ciphertext, unreadable without your device key. One exception: finishing an entry, or tapping Go Deeper mid-entry, sends that entry's text to the AI that writes the response. It's processed in flight and never stored there. Chat conversations are also stored unencrypted today, so Mann can remember them.

What languages does Mann support?

Mann writes back in 8 Indian languages. The app itself is in Hindi, Hinglish and English, with more coming. The AI responds in whichever language you write in, including Hinglish, and the app's own screens ship in 3 of those today.

Is Mann only for people in India?

No. Mann is built for Indians, wherever they live, and anyone else can use it too. It is on Google Play and the App Store outside India, including the UK and the US.

Is Mann a replacement for therapy?

No, and we never claim to be. Mann is a journaling companion: it helps you process, reflect, and understand yourself better. If you're dealing with serious mental health concerns, please speak to a professional. What happens if I delete my account?

Deleted immediately and permanently. Your profile, entries, mood logs, chats, habits and subscription go at once; residual copies in backups are purged within 30 days. Your encryption key goes with your device, so any cached ciphertext becomes permanently unreadable. The one thing that stays is community posts: they're part of other people's conversations, but your account ID and handle are stripped from them so nothing links back to you.

Does Mann work offline?

You can write journal entries offline; they sync when you reconnect. AI features require internet.

How is Mann different from ChatGPT or other AI?

Mann isn't a chatbot. It asks one question at a time, reflects back what you said, and nudges you toward writing rather than endless chatting. It knows what log kya kahenge, joint-family pressure, and a rishta conversation actually feel like. And unlike a general assistant, your finished entries are encrypted with a key that never leaves your phone, in a private journal built only for this.

Exactly when can Mann read what I wrote?

Your entries are stored as ciphertext we can't read, but they are readable in flight, and more than once: every entry you finish is sent for a private safety check, even one that gets no reflection; again for a reflection if you ask for one, and to update what Mann remembers about you; once more on Premium when you view a finished entry Mann has already reflected on, to write a longer second reflection; and once more again if the check finds a crisis signal, to write the helpline message itself. Chat conversations are a separate store and aren't encrypted yet.

Who made Mann, and is it compliant with Indian law?
