Mann vs Evolve: Meditation App or a Journal That Writes Back (2026)

If you searched "Evolve vs Mann", you are choosing between two Indian-made apps. Evolve is a self-care library: meditations, breathing exercises, CBT courses, with a prompted journal and a mood tracker inside, built in Mumbai for the world. Mann is a private journal that writes back, built in Pune for the Indian home. This page puts them side by side.

We make Mann, so read this knowing that. Where Evolve does something better, we say so, because you will find out anyway the first evening you use it.

Everything about Evolve below comes from Evolve's own website, privacy policy and terms, and its App Store and Play Store listings for India, read on 9 September 2026. The links are at the bottom.

The short answer

Pick Mann if you need somewhere to write what you cannot say out loud, in Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali or Marathi, and want one true thing said back.

Pick Evolve if you want guided meditations, breathing exercises and therapist-built courses, with a mood tracker and journal prompts alongside, and you are fine with English.

EvolveMann
What happens when you writeSix kinds of journaling and reflection exercises, written by therapists and coaches. Whether anything is written back is not stated.Mann says back the one thing in your entry that carried the most weight, then stops. No advice, no question.
LanguagesEnglish, the only language on the App Store India listing. The Play listing names none.Writes back in 8 Indian languages: English, Hindi, Hinglish, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada. The app's own screens are in Hindi, Hinglish and English.
What it costs in IndiaFree to download; core meditation, journaling and mood tracking are free, per the App Store listing. Premium Monthly ₹1,999 (App Store India); Yearly items at ₹3,999 and ₹4,999; eight more items from ₹699 to ₹2,999.Free plan, no expiry. Premium ₹199 a month or ₹1,699 a year.
Where your words goThe App Store listing says entries are "encrypted and completely confidential, with optional sharing to your therapist". The privacy policy puts data on a US cloud provider's servers in Bengaluru and names encryption for payments and passwords, not entries. Play data safety: encrypted in transit, nothing shared with third parties.Entries are encrypted on your phone before they are stored. Mann's servers hold ciphertext. Your words are read in flight, not at rest: a private safety screen reads every finished entry once, even one that gets no reflection, and the AI (Google Gemini) reads it when it writes your reflection. Nothing is kept. Chat messages are not encrypted yet.
Made forA global audience, in English, with a stated focus on LGBTQ+ and ADHD users. GTA Solutions, Mumbai.India. Joint families, career pressure, the rishta conversation, log kya kahenge. A small team in Pune.

Memory across entriesNot stated.Split. The reflection you get after saving is written from that entry alone, with no history. Memory shows up elsewhere: chat, the opening prompt and the weekly report draw on the opening of your recent entries and up to ten open threads Mann is still holding. Threads expire after 30 days and you can delete any of them.
VoiceNot stated. Meditations are audio; voice journaling is not mentioned.Voice journaling on Premium.
PlatformsiPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Vision Pro; Android. Apple Health integration.Android and iOS. No web app. Entries cannot be opened on a second phone, because the key never leaves the first one.

Where Mann is better

A journal that writes back. Evolve's journal is prompts, and the entry ends when you stop typing. Mann reads the entry and says back the sentence that was carrying the weight.

Indian languages. Evolve's App Store listing names one language, English. Mann writes back in eight, and was tuned for Hinglish rather than translated into it.

Price. ₹199 against the ₹1,999 monthly item on Evolve's App Store India listing. ₹1,699 against ₹3,999 or ₹4,999 a year.

What the servers hold. Evolve's App Store listing says entries are encrypted; its privacy policy names encryption only for payments and passwords, and does not describe encryption at rest for entries. Mann's entries are encrypted on your phone before they are stored, so the servers hold ciphertext. A private safety screen still reads every finished entry once, and the AI reads it in flight to write the reflection.

The context. When you write "Papa said the usual thing about the job", Mann does not need the usual thing explained. That is the reason it exists.

Where Evolve is better

Meditation and courses. This is most of Evolve, and Mann has none of it. Five hundred guided meditations, breathing exercises, courses built on CBT and DBT. If a ten-minute audio before bed is what helps you, Evolve has a library and Mann has a blank page.

The therapy companion. Evolve is built to sit next to a therapist: session prep, homework, a dashboard you can share. Mann is not built for that.

Mood tracking free, and more devices. Evolve's mood tracker is free; Mann's full weekly picture is on Premium. Evolve runs on iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and Vision Pro. Mann runs on a phone.

A space built for LGBTQ+ users. Evolve names it and builds for it: coming out, discrimination, identity. Mann offers a private page in your language, which is not the same thing.

Who each is for

Mann is for someone with nobody safe to tell. You write the thing, in whatever language it arrives in. Mann says back the sentence you buried in paragraph four, and gets out of the way. For most people reading this in India, Mann is the one to start with: it is free, it is in your language, and it is for the thing you cannot say yet. It stays free, and the paid plan is ₹199 a month.

Evolve is for someone who wants a routine. A morning meditation, a breathing exercise at 3pm, a course on self-esteem, a mood check, a journal prompt, in one app that also talks to your therapist.

Mann is a journaling tool, not a therapist and not a medical device. It sits alongside therapy; it does not replace it. If what you are carrying is getting heavier rather than lighter, call iCall on 9152987821 (Mon to Sat, 8am to 10pm) or the Vandrevala Foundation on 1860-2662-345, free and 24/7.

Questions people ask

Is Evolve available in India? Yes. It is made in Mumbai and is on the App Store India and Google Play India, priced in rupees.

Does Evolve support Hindi? Its App Store India listing names English only. The Play listing names no languages. Mann replies in 8 Indian languages, including Hindi and Hinglish.

Which is cheaper? Mann. ₹199 a month against Evolve's ₹1,999 monthly item, and ₹1,699 a year against ₹3,999.

Can I move from Evolve to Mann? Evolve's site does not say whether you can export entries. Mann has no import today. You would start fresh, which some people prefer.

If that is what you were looking for

Writing in Mann is free, as much as you like, with one AI reflection a day and 10 chat messages a week. Premium is ₹199 a month or ₹1,699 a year. Get Mann here.

Or don't. A paper notebook does most of this, and we say that on every page. The one thing it cannot do is say back the sentence you buried in paragraph four.

Still deciding? This page is one of thirty. The whole set, with prices in rupees and the rows each app wins, is in Best AI journaling apps in India.
