If you searched "best journaling app India" or "AI journal app in Hindi", you found lists written for America. Prices in dollars, languages that stop at Spanish, and nothing about the one problem this country actually has with journaling: there is nobody safe to tell, so the thing stays inside.
This is the Indian list. Thirty apps, checked on 9 September 2026 against each company's own website and its App Store and Play Store listings for India. Prices are the rupee prices those listings show. Where a company does not say something, we write "not stated" rather than guess.

The short answer
For most people reading this in India, Mann is the one to start with. It writes back in the language you actually think in, including Hinglish. It is free with no end date, and ₹199 a month if you ever pay. Nothing else on this list does the first thing at all.
The honest exceptions. If you write in English, want a coach that talks back at length and remembers months of your life, and can pay ₹1,000 or more a month, Rosebud, Reflection and Mindsera are built for that. If you want a lifelong archive with photos, sync and a web app, Day One and Journey do that and Mann does not. If you want a diary with a lock and nothing else, the Play Store already gave you three with a crore of downloads each, free.
How we compared
Every row below rests on the same eight questions. What happens when you write. Is there a chat. Does it remember across entries. Which languages does it write back in. Where do your words go and what does the company's server hold. Which phones and screens. What it costs in India. Who it is made for.
Mann's answers, once, so you can hold them against every row: one reflection after you save, then it stops. A separate chat, 10 messages a week free. Lock diaries
These own the words "diary" and "journal" on the Play Store in India, with a crore or more downloads each. They have a PIN or fingerprint on the front, themes and stickers inside, and no AI. The honest comparison is a lock against encryption, and a diary against a journal that writes back.

What none of the thirty does
Say it writes back in Hinglish. Or Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali or Marathi. Six of the thirty list Hindi among their menu languages: Rosebud, Day One, Daybook, Daylio, Diarium and My Diary. Daylio's list also includes Bengali, and My Diary's includes Telugu. A menu in Hindi or Bengali is not a reply in it. On the pages we read, no app other than Mann states that it writes back in any Indian language. That is the row Mann was built for, and the reason a list like this did not exist until we wrote it.
When it is more than something to write
Mann is a journaling app. It is not therapy and not a crisis service, and neither is any AI journal on this list.
