What Mann does that Rosebud does not
Price. ₹199 against ₹1,299 a month. ₹1,699 against ₹9,900 a year. And Mann's free plan has no end date, while Rosebud's own help centre says its free plan retires on 30 September 2026.
Indian languages. Rosebud lists Hindi. It does not list Hinglish, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali or Marathi. Mann writes back in all of them, and was tuned for Hinglish rather than translated into it.
What the servers hold. Rosebud's entries are encrypted in transit and at rest, and are processed by five AI providers. Mann's entries are encrypted on your phone before they are stored, so Mann's servers hold ciphertext. A private safety screen still reads every finished entry once, and the AI reads it in flight to write the reflection. Neither app hides your words from its own AI; both read the entry to reply. The difference is what sits on the server afterwards.
The context. When you write "Papa said the usual thing about the job", Mann does not need the usual thing explained. That is the reason it exists.
Where Rosebud is better
Memory. Rosebud is built to remember. Its help centre announces the end of the free plan alongside a "best-in-class memory system that will remember your story like never before." If you want an app that, in March, brings up what you said in January, Rosebud does that and Mann does not. Mann's reflection is written from the entry alone. Its memory sits in chat, the opening prompt and the weekly report, and reaches back about a fortnight.
A web app. Rosebud runs in a browser as a companion to the phone app. Mann does not. The key never leaves the phone that made the entry, so a second device cannot open it. If you journal at a laptop, that matters.
A coach that talks back. Rosebud asks and answers. Mann reflects once and stops. If you want the conversation, Rosebud is built for it.
Voice in more languages. Rosebud lists voice journaling in 20 languages. Mann's voice journaling is on Premium and covers the 8 languages Mann writes in.
Who each is for
Mann is for someone with nobody safe to tell. You write the thing, in whatever language it arrives in. Mann says back the sentence you buried in paragraph four, and gets out of the way. For most people reading this in India, Mann is the one to start with: it is free with no end date, it is in your language, and it costs ₹199 a month if you ever pay.
Rosebud is for someone who wants a coach in English. You talk, it remembers, it follows up, it tracks goals, and it is there on your laptop. If that is the shape you want, and ₹1,299 a month is not the deciding factor, it is the more complete coach.

Does Rosebud support Hindi? Its App Store listing includes Hindi among 18 languages. It does not list Hinglish or any other Indian language. Mann replies in 8 Indian languages.

Can I move from Rosebud to Mann? Rosebud's help centre says you can export all your entries. Mann has no import today. You would start fresh, which some people prefer.
